Connect Trello
Last updated
Connecting Trello lets your Modules read your boards and cards and, when you approve it, add cards, comment on them and move them between lists. You paste a Trello API key and a token that you generate yourself.
What your Modules can do
- List your open boards, and the lists and cards on each one.
- Add a new card to a list, with an optional description and due date.
- Comment on a card.
- Move a card to another list.
What needs your approval
Reading boards never needs approval. Adding a card, commenting or moving a card always waits for you: your Module drafts the change and you approve it in your dashboard before anything changes in Trello.
Before you start
- A Trello account that is a member of the boards you want your Modules to use.
- A few minutes to create an API key and a token. You can revoke the token at any time.
Connect Trello
Open Apps
In your dashboard, go to Apps in the left sidebar and select Connect on the Trello card.
Get your API key
Open the Trello Power-Ups admin page and create a Power-Up (any name works). On its API key tab, copy the key.
Generate a token
On the same page, select Token next to the key, choose to allow access, and copy the token. Pick read and write access so your Modules can add and move cards. The token acts as you, so it reaches every board you belong to.
Paste both and test
Paste the key and the token into the Trello card in Raileon and select Test connection. The card shows Connected when it works.
Disconnect Trello
Open Apps, find the Trello card, and select Disconnect. To cut off access completely, also revoke the token in your Trello account settings under Applications.
