Connect Mercury

Last updated

Connecting Mercury lets your Modules see your account balances and recent transactions, for example to prepare a cash summary or to check whether a client's payment arrived. You paste one token from Mercury, and Raileon keeps it encrypted.

Raileon can only read. It cannot send money, pay a bill, add a recipient, or change a card, and there is no setting that allows it. For extra safety, you create a token that Mercury itself limits to reading.

What your Modules can do

  • List your accounts with their current and available balances.
  • List recent transactions for one account, for a date range you choose (up to a year at a time). Each shows the date, the other party, the amount and the status.

Reading never needs approval, because nothing is changed. Your Modules treat the names and notes in your transactions as information only, never as instructions.

Before you start

You need to be an admin on your Mercury account, because only admins can create tokens.

Create a read-only token in Mercury

  1. In Mercury, open Settings, then Tokens.
  2. Select Create an API Token.
  3. Choose Read Only. Do not choose Read and Write.
  4. Copy the token. Mercury shows it only once.

A Read Only token cannot start a payment even if it were stolen. If you are ever unsure which kind you made, delete the token in Mercury and create a new one.

Connect Mercury

  1. Open Apps

In your dashboard, go to Apps in the left sidebar and select Connect on the Mercury card.

  2. Paste your token

Paste the Read Only API token.

  3. Test and save

Select Test connection. When it passes, save. The Mercury card then shows Connected.

Disconnect Mercury

Open Apps, find the Mercury card, and select Disconnect. To be thorough, also delete the token in Mercury under Settings, then Tokens.
