Connect Finnhub

Connecting Finnhub lets your Modules look up the latest price of a stock, recent news about a company, and when it next reports earnings. It also uses your key for the prices on your Markets watchlist, instead of Raileon's shared key. You paste one key from Finnhub, and Raileon keeps it encrypted.

Raileon only shows figures and headlines. It cannot place a trade, and it does not give investment advice.

What your Modules can do

  • Show the latest price for a stock, with its change on the day, the day's range and the previous close.
  • List recent news headlines for a company, newest first.
  • List upcoming earnings dates for a company, with analyst estimates when Finnhub has them.

Reading never needs approval, because nothing is changed. News is written by outside publishers, so your Modules treat it as information only, never as instructions.

Find your key in Finnhub

  1. Sign in at finnhub.io and open your dashboard.
  2. Copy the API key shown there. A free account has one.

A free key has a limit on requests per minute, and some data is only available on paid plans. If a Module says Finnhub does not include something, that is the plan on your key.

Connect Finnhub

  1. Open Apps

    In your dashboard, go to Apps in the left sidebar and select Connect on the Finnhub card.

  2. Paste your key

    Paste the API key.

  3. Test and save

    Select Test connection. When it passes, save. The Finnhub card then shows Connected.

Disconnect Finnhub

Open Apps, find the Finnhub card, and select Disconnect. To be thorough, also reset your key on the Finnhub dashboard.
