Connect OneDrive
Last updated
Connecting OneDrive lets your Modules find a file, read a text file, and save new notes or summaries. Everything runs through an app you register in your own Microsoft account, so your credentials stay yours.
What your Modules can do
- Search your OneDrive by file name or by the words inside a file.
- Read a plain-text file such as
.txt,.md,.csvor.json. - Save a new text file, optionally in a folder. Raileon holds each new file for your approval first.
Your Modules cannot overwrite, edit, move, share or delete a file. If a new file has the same name as an existing one, OneDrive renames the new one. They also cannot read Word files, PDFs or images, and very long files are cut short.
Before you start
You need access to the Microsoft Entra admin center, where you register the app, and the Microsoft account whose OneDrive you want your Modules to use. Work and school accounts and personal accounts both work. The permissions Raileon asks for do not need an administrator to approve them.
Connect OneDrive
Open Apps
In your dashboard, go to Apps in the left sidebar and select Connect on the OneDrive card.
Register an app
In the Entra admin center, go to App registrations → New registration. Under Supported account types, choose Accounts in any organizational directory and personal Microsoft accounts. Under Redirect URI, choose Web and paste the redirect URI Raileon shows, then select Register.
Add the permissions
Open API permissions, select Add a permission → Microsoft Graph → Delegated permissions, and add
Files.ReadWrite,User.Readandoffline_access.Files.ReadWritelets your Modules search, read and add files.offline_accesskeeps the connection alive without asking you to sign in again.Create a client secret
Open Certificates & secrets → New client secret, then copy the secret's Value right away. Microsoft shows it only once, and it expires on the date you pick, so set a reminder to replace it.
Paste the details
Copy the Application (client) ID from the app's Overview page and the secret Value into Raileon, then select Save & connect. They are stored encrypted and used only to connect your account.
Approve in Microsoft
Sign in with the account whose OneDrive you want to use and accept the permissions. The card shows Connected.
Good to know
- Raileon can reach every file in that account's OneDrive. It cannot be limited to one folder.
- When a client secret expires, the connection stops working. Create a new secret, paste it into the OneDrive card, and connect again.
- Because a new file waits for your approval, you see its name, folder and text before it is saved.
Disconnect OneDrive
Open Apps, find the OneDrive card, and select Disconnect. To remove access on Microsoft's side too, go to your Microsoft account's app permissions page (personal accounts) or My Apps (work and school accounts), or delete the app registration.
