5 tips for naming a restaurant

  1. Hint at the food or the feel. People scanning a map or a delivery app decide in seconds. A name like Woodfire Room or Larder & Flame tells them what kind of meal to expect before they open the menu.
  2. Test it on the phone. Your staff will say "Thanks for calling ___" all day. If the name is a mouthful, it gets shortened, and the short version becomes your name anyway.
  3. Put the strong word first. Long names get cut off on small screens in maps and delivery apps, so lead with the word you want people to remember.
  4. Leave room to grow. A name built on one dish or one street gets awkward when the menu changes or you open a second location.
  5. Check the handle before the sign. People look a new restaurant up on Instagram and Google before they book a table, so make sure the handle is open and close to your .com. Once the name is picked, we can set up your socials to match.
