5 tips for naming a coffee shop

  1. Say it the way customers will. People say "meet me at ___" and your staff will answer the phone with it. If the name doesn't roll off the tongue in that sentence, keep looking.
  2. Picture it on a cup. The name goes on cups, sleeves and bags of beans. Short names print clearly on a small curved surface and fit inside a round logo.
  3. Pick "coffee" or "cafe" on purpose. Cafe suggests food and a place to sit, while Coffee or Roast says the drinks come first. Choose the word that matches what most people will come in for.
  4. Keep the accent out of the web address. If your sign says Café, keep the web address and email plain "cafe" so people can type it on any phone.
  5. Check the handle too. Many people find a coffee shop on Instagram or a map before they see its website, so make sure the handle is open and close to your .com. Once the name is picked, we can set up your socials under that handle.
